BREAKING NEWS- the House passed historic tax reform

Dear Friend,

I wanted to make sure that you saw the big news from the Capitol this week- the House of Representatives just passed major tax reform for the first time in over 30 years.

Here’s what that means for you:

Independent, non-partisan groups like the Tax Foundation found that EVERY income group will see their after-tax income rise if our tax reform plan becomes law. That means more of your own hard-earned money stays in your pocket- because you know how to spend it better than Washington does.

The standard deduction is DOUBLED- from $6,000-12,000 for singles, and from $12,000-24,000 for married couples filing jointly. This is combined with moving from 7 tax brackets to 4, which is a big tax cut for the middle class. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, H.R. 1, also moves low-wage workers out of taxable income entirely with a new 0% tax bracket.

For families, the child tax credit is expanded from $1,000 to $1,600 – that’s real money in your pocket to spend on gas, on school supplies, or on that bigger pair of shoes since your four year old won’t stop growing.

There’s also an extra $300 for each non-child dependent- the teenager in community college who still lives at home, or the elderly grandparent you’ve been taking care of.

By getting rid of loopholes that benefit the wealthy and simplifying the tax code entirely, our goal is that 9 out of every 10 Americans will be able to file their tax returns on a postcard. That saves you money, time, and the inevitable tax season headache we’re all too familiar with.
