In response to the
letter I sent out on June 17, I received the following. While this is clearly a boilerplate response to the Russia investigation which doesn't address my point directly, you at least have to give the congressman points for promptness.

Dear Mr. Bailey:
Thank you for contacting me with your concerns regarding President Donald Trump's administration and the Russian government. Understanding your ideas and concerns helps me better represent you and the Second District of Minnesota. I appreciate your concerns about Russia and our national security, and I would like to update you on efforts being taken to address this issue.
Most recently, the Department of Justice appointed Robert Mueller as Special Counsel for the Russian Investigation. The Department of Justice thought a special counsel was appropriate, and I support that decision. In addition, the House Intelligence Committee and the Senate Intelligence Committee, as well as other Congressional committees, are continuing to investigate intelligence and counter intelligence issues involving Russia, Russian threats to our cyber security, and efforts by the Russian government to influence our elections.
I will continue to support the bipartisan investigations in the House and Senate as well as the work of the FBI. These investigations should not drag on by letting politics get in the way. If the appointment of a special counsel gets politics out of it, I'm certainly in favor of that. I look forward to resolving these issues with a thorough and complete investigation.
The safety and security of the American people is my utmost priority, and I will continue to support legislation that ensures our national security. I will be monitoring the work of the committees and special counsel closely. If the House of Representatives considers any legislation regarding Russian threats to our national security, I will consider it with your thoughts in mind.

Sincerely,
Jason Lewis
